ICT Skills for Teaching Assistants in Schools

The objectives of the practical course run in the school's ICT suite are:

to provide teaching assistants with better understanding of: supporting ICT in the classroom; health and safety issues; digital terminology.

to provide teaching assistants with better skills in the use of: Windows concepts; graphs and pie charts; symbols, images and tables in word processing; slideshows; desktop publishing for displays and booklets; files and folders; use of internet locally & mobile

to compile a portfolio of practical work as evidence of ICT competence.

At the conclusion of the course teaching assistants should more confidence in the use of ICT themselves and with pupils in school.

The training is normlly run over one-day but may be run in 2 or 4 sessions on separate days or one hour a week over 18 weeks as appropriate
